As our courses have a collaborative learning format there are a number of expectations. They are common sense and based upon respect and getting the most out of the time available - even when it is self directed. This is what we expect of those people who do our courses or access our services;
We expect people to prepare for any online and face to face sessions, and show up on time.
If you can't make a session let us know - one of the facilitators will catch up with you to ensure you don't miss anything important.
Remember that you cant skip any material, it's all important.
Dress and demonstrate behaviour appropriate for the setting, be a Stoic even when no one is watching.
Participate in group discussions as indicated by your facilitators, debate the point and respect the person.
Work with your course mates in small and large groups, to learn new skills. As you progress through the training perform the new skills and let us know how it goes. Keep in mind this will be considered when deciding whom achieves the standard required for the volunteers.
Foster a good learning environment: listen, support, participate, and celebrate each other. Celebrate the person, no matter what they did or which side they fought on.
Confidentiality is critical. It takes courage to tell our stories and that must be respected. Failure to observe the requirement for confidentiality may result in being removed from training.
Take good care of yourself and your course mates. It’s not easy to take part in this type of training, so make sure you look after yourself to get the most out of it. If you require some support please talk to one of the facilitators. If you are concerned about yourself or a course mate talk to one of the facilitators.
design for responsibility
These are not pass / fail courses, they are for your benefit.
It takes a bit of getting your head around the changes you will need to enact on your journey. About turning up and doing it for yourself because you want and need to, not because you have been told to by someone else.
Our veterans have some high expectations of us. Military people do not easily come to the point of accepting they are fucked, that they need help. When they reach out they expect us to be there, they expect us to stand by them and to support them no matter how fucked up it gets. And that's fair enough.
We expect in return that our veterans do 2 things in engaging with the No Duff Charitable Trust - they don't fuck us around and they don't fuck others over.
We don't care what someone has done (after several years we have heard it all - maybe even done it ourselves), we don't care what end of the two way range they fought on. We will find support for you for your service related issues.
Knowledge, like air, is vital to life. Like air, no one should be denied it.
