Its all done by volunteers, its hundreds of hours of work - so go easy on us because we are not professional web designers.
Whilst in the testing phase the site is member access only. Once we have the bugs worked out we will be opening up our support materials to everyone.
Public login takes you to public facing pages which give an overview of who we are and what we do, whilst member login takes you to the blog page.
Many of the images on this site come from unsplash - thanks guys for brilliant images. Other images are supplied by the veterans themselves. Unless otherwise indicated in the albums the images on this site are not free for the taking.
Remember its for military veterans so language and content are not suitable for all audiences.
This site supports military veterans and the volunteers who help them.
It is estimated that there are now more than 40,000 military veterans in New Zealand with operational service, the highest number since the Vietnam war. The total number of veterans may in fact be much higher when you consider veterans from other countries are often overlooked. Over 75% of veterans are now under retirement age and the proportion of young veterans is the highest since the second World War. Hearing loss, arthritis and mental injury account for over 90% of the medical conditions that veterans require help with. All of these conditions serve to isolate the veteran, limiting their ability to get out and interact. Many struggle to reintegrate into a society that has little understanding of the impact of modern conflict. For 1 in 5 that struggle may be longterm.
A veteran reaches crisis every week in New Zealand, which in reality means a family in crisis.
80% of the partners of Veterans with PTSD themselves show signs of mental injury, whilst 60% of their children also show signs.
Unfortunately there is a veteran suicide on average every 1- 2 months in New Zealand.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
